In the period from 27^th of September to 2^nd of October a delegation of the Republic of Macedonia, lead by the Director of the State Environmental Inspectorate, Mr. Firus Memed, implemented a second study visit within this Project in Portugal and the region of Extremadura (Spain) and visited several companies of different sectors as examples of good practice in the field of environmental inspection and enforcement of environmental regulations by the companies.

The group was composed of 8 representatives of the State Environmental Inspectorate and several municipalities from the Republic of Macedonia that were welcomed by the Director and the staff of the Portuguese General Inspectorate for the Agriculture, Environment, Sea and Spatial Planning (IGAMAOT), the Spanish Project Leader of this Twinning, Mr. José Francisco Alonso Picón, and the team of environmental inspectors of the Regional Environmental Inspectorate of the Spanish Region of Extremadura with the purpose of exchanging good practices and experience in environmental enforcement, with a focus in areas of Air Quality, IPPC/IED and Water management sector between Portuguese, Spanish and Macedonian partners.

Institutional visits included the General Inspectorate for the Agriculture, Environment, Sea and Spatial Planning (IGAMAOT), with presentations being delivered on the organization, planning and studies of environmental inspections, implementation of inspections, risk analysis system, compliance management system, GIS software tools supporting inspectors and performance of monitoring and sampling and the School of Public Administration of Extremadura with presentation of general organization resources and compliances of the Regional Environmental Inspectorate of Extremadura as well as an overview of the main activities with polluting impact in the region.

As for industries, the representatives of Macedonia visited some leading companies as GALP oil refinery in Sines (Portugal) – a Seveso high-tier installation, a Thermosolar Power plant (EXTRESOL-3), a WEEE recycling plant (MOVILEX) and a glass recycling plant (BA Recuperaciones) in the Spanish Region of Extremadura. In this region visited additionally an IED poultry farm (Cantos Blancos Sur) and an IED pig farm (CAIMESA).
